Gifts For the Unemployed

We all know someone who has just been either laid off or fired and is in serious need of a job. It is tough seeing them go through the transition of having money to barely having enough to eat. Or from having something to do to having too much time on their hands. You want to help them out, but you just feel helpless. Well what if I told you there is a way to help pull them up from their boot straps. I am not saying to keep barraging them with a constant update on how their job search is going, but to give them genuine encouragement with gifts that will give them some hope.

Any little help can go a very long way when dealing with people who are unemployed. Since transportation is a necessity in order to find another job give the hunter some assistance with their travels. If you are unable to actually give them a ride from place to place offer them a gas card to buy fuel when their tank is low or better yet buy them a bus pass for a week or month. Not only will that be a great gift to the recipient, but you will be doing the environment a favor too.

With the extra time your jobless cohort now has as a favor you may want to consider keeping them busy with other things. You could share with them the gift of reading by giving them some self-help books that will motivate them or some classic novels to keep them entertain while the wait for call backs. You could consider buying a movie membership for them from Netflix or Blockbuster so they can have something to watch when their daily job search is over.

To help them to de-stress and relax you can get your unemployed friend to join a class that will ease their mind and restore their body. Yoga or kick-boxing classes are excellent choices, but they do not necessarily have to be fitness classes. You can enroll your friend in some type of apprenticeship course where they can learn new skills to add to their current experience ,or to acquire a new skill altogether. You never know, that could probably be what they need to find their next job.

Bills begin to pile up and eventually become ignored when one is without a form of income. So if you want to give a gift how about offering to pay a bill or two of your crony who is between jobs. They could defiantly use the assistance plus you will be helping to protect their credit which makes it a gift that will not go unappreciated. If you do not have the funds to pay a whole bill how about picking up the tab when you both go out to eat next time, or buying some needed groceries when the cupboard is empty. As I said before any little bit goes a long way.

A new outfit is essential if you want your friend to make a good first impression. So it would be a great gesture if you took your friend shopping for a new suit or shoes to get them ready for the many interviews they will be going on. If you are too busy to go shopping you could just buy them a gift card from their favorite clothing store. That way they will be able to pick what they want whenever time they want to without bothering you.
